ZTE faced a very complicated 2018 as US sanctions deprived it of key components and almost pushed it into bankruptcy. Now the company is back in business with the new ZTE Axon 9 Pro that was announced today in Berlin. This device is a top of the range and in the next few lines we tell you everything you need to know.
ZTE Axon 9 Pro Design
If you expect an unusual design, you will be disappointed, as the Axon 9 Pro has a monoblock very similar to the iPhone X. However, it compensates with the full HD + AMOLED screen of 6.2 inches. It should be noted that this device has a tempered glass panel on the back and supports wireless charging.
Meanwhile, ZTE has joined companies like Sony, Samsung, Huawei and LG, by providing water-resistant equipment. In fact, this device has an IP68 rating which also ensures protection against dust.
The new ZTE device stands out immediately from the screen with support for the “Axon Vision” system. In the background, it translates into a set of various technologies that are integrated into the screen with 2,248 x 1,080 pixels. One of the most interesting features is “motion video optimization,” which increases video content to 60fps by inserting extra frames into the content.
In practice this is a very similar system to other motion smoothing systems that are present on dozens of TVs and that duplicate the frames to allow a 60fps rate.
Also regarding the screen, ZTE also added support for HDR10 and an RGB sensor to automatically adjust the color temperature based on the environment.
Axon 9 Pro cameras
The ZTE Axon 9 Pro features a dual-chamber configuration consisting of a 12MP main aperture f / 1.75 aperture (with optical image stabilization) and a super wide-angle 20MP (130 degrees) aperture.
Like other manufacturers in 2018, ZTE is using artificial intelligence to enhance cameras, in this case “intelligent movement and facial recognition” capabilities. This manufacturer spoke little in the camera’s specific modes, only mentioning that the ZTE Axon 9 Pro can capture “motion sequences” and videos in slow motion.
On the front of the Axon 9 Pro is a 20MP self-service camera that can be used to unlock through the face. Also note the fingerprint reader on the back.
ZTE Axon 9 Pro specifications
ZTE’s latest flagship comes with a Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The main disadvantage is the lack of support for microSD cards.
The 4.000mAh battery is above average, giving this device autonomy for the entire day, with less than an hour of charging. At the software level, the ZTE Axon 9 Pro still comes with the Android 8.1 operating system. However, the Android Pie for this device is already being prepared.
ZTE says the phone uses artificial intelligence to deliver good performance.
Apparently, the phone can predict user behaviour and automatically turn off unused applications in the background by removing associated files in the process.
ZTE Axon 9 Pro Price
The Axon 9 Pro will be available for 649 euros when it arrives in Germany at the end of September. China and Russia will join this country as the initial markets for ZTE’s new bet.
