During the manufacturer’s most recent event, Elon Musk finally officially launched the so-called Tesla Model S Plaid, the new flagship electric car maker. Tesla’s CEO took the opportunity to point out that the Model S Plaid is the perfect example of what it will be possible to achieve with its new batteries, both in terms of performance and autonomy.
In the presentation, they were revealed Tesla Model S Plaid performance details that delighted fans:
- Acceleration from 0 – 100 km / h in less than 2 seconds
- Quarter mile (400 m) in less than 9 seconds
Tesla Model S Plaid again claims the title of “King of Laguna Seca” in mind-blowing video
For some time now, manufacturers have resorted to tests on the most popular racing tracks to push your car’s capabilities to the limit. Recently we saw Lucid Air beat the previous time of the Model S Plaid prototype, making a complete lap in just 1: 33 minutes.
Now, after the official presentation of the Tesla Model S Plaid, renowned racing driver Sebastian Vittel has published a video of his fastest lap on the Laguna Seca track at steering wheel of the Model S Plaid. On this lap, Vittel gets the incredible time of 1: 30 .3 minutes, thus regaining the title.
This incredibly fast lap was enough not only to win the title of fastest electric car, but also to beat the times of some high competition cars such as the McLaren P1. With this time, the Tesla Model S Plaid can even stand side by side with some super cars that cost more than 1 million euros, such as Porsche 918 Spyder (1: 29. 89) and McLaren Senna (1: 27. 62).
Obviously, with this type of result, it didn’t take long for them to start being the target of criticism. Many users accused Tesla of “cleaning” the car of all essentials to make it lighter and also of using high-performance tires.
However, Sebastian Vittel quickly stated that they only replaced the car seat for your own safety and revealed that used tires are the ones that will be present in the model sold to the public. Elon Musk went even further, stating that he believes it is possible to “eat” another 3 seconds at this time with future adjustments and improvements in the car, aiming to become the fastest production car ever.
I would like to remind you that the Tesla Model S Plaid will arrive on the market at a price of roughly 120 thousand euros.
