Samsung Electronics is still rolling out Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat updates to Galaxy smartphones and tablets but its Galaxy S and Note devices may receive the new software in January 2015.
Google released Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA (Over-The-Air) update to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2012 & 2013 editions), and Nexus 10 last week. Google Play Edition devices, including Sony
Xperia Z Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One M7, M8, LG G Pad 8.3, and Moto G will also get the software update. It was reported that some of Samsung’s devices might come with Android 5.0 Lollipop from December.
“Samsung won’t update the international version of the Galaxy S5 / Galaxy S4 / Galaxy Note 3 to Android 4.4.4. You will get Android 5.0,” tweeted SamMobile.
However, current users of Samsung devices may have to wait until January next year to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop.
