Samsung today announced a new bet on 8-inch tablets. This is the new Galaxy Tab A (without S Pen), which arrives uninspired to attack a market where smartphones are getting bigger.
The new Galaxy Tab A comes with the goal of attracting a consumer who still prefers a tablet of this size, and who does not want to spend much. The official price has not yet been announced, but should be below 200 euros as soon as it is released.
- 8-inch HD screen (1280×800)
- 2.0GHz Snapdragon 429 Processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 32 GB internal storage (expandable via microSD up to 512GB)
- 8MP front camera
- 2MP secondary camera
- Two speakers
- 5100mAh battery
- Android Pie
- Weight: 345 grams (Wi-Fi version) and 347 grams (LTE version)
According to Samsung, the new tablet has a Quad Core 2.0GHz processor. Although it has not been revealed which processor it is, the XDA Developers forum has advanced that it is Snapdragon 429.
The 5100mAh battery is described by Samsung as “durable”, because both the processor and its resolution will not pull for large flights. As usual, Wi-Fi and LTE versions will be available, giving the latter the possibility of placing a SIM card for mobile data.
New Tab A offers 2 months of Youtube Premium and 3 months of Spotify Premium
In order to stimulate the purchase of the tablet, Samsung will offer 2 months of Youtube Premium and 3 months of Spotify Premium to buyers. This campaign will, however, only apply to new subscribers of both services.
The new tablet also comes with the ‘Kids Home’ model that has an interface more suitable for children. The goal is for parents to move the device into the hands of children without worrying.
Prices and availability were not disclosed
Samsung has not yet made official pricing or availability dates. As usual, it is expected that this new tablet will reach the Portuguese market as soon as it is released.
