The THQ Nordic announced on Wednesday (14) the acquisition of Koch Media, the company responsible for the label Deep Silver, which distributes games of the series Dead Island, Saints Row, and Metro.
The deal was closed at $149 million and should be approved by the end of the day.
With the acquisition, THQ Nordic becomes the owner of all the intellectual and active properties of Koch, including its licenses – such as the Metro series, adapted from Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novels.
” I firmly believe that THQ Nordic has an excellent strategy combination with Koch Media, ” said Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Koch Media. ” In addition to having long experience in game development and publishing, THQ has the skills, willingness, and capital to drive growth in the future .”
The terms of the purchase state that Koch Media will continue to operate in a normal manner. The Volition, responsible for the Saints Row series, and Dambuster of Homefront, however, should work on new AAA titles not yet announced.
THQ Nordic currently develops at least two major titles already known: Biomutant and Darksiders 3.
