Vince Zampella, head of Respawn Entertainment and DICE LA, hinted at a new game from EA Games. The executive confirmed that DICE LA is a team of “shooters” and should work in this genre on its next project.
In an interview with IGN, Zampella talked about the future of the Los Angeles studio. He commented that there will be no relationship between the developer and Respawn, besides practically guaranteeing a shooter in the future.
That team is a team of shooters. Chances are that something like this will come.
The dev also said he had good ideas about this specific plan, but nothing has been guaranteed so far. In addition, the game will likely run on the Frostbite engine.
You need to choose the right engine to make the game you want. It will most likely be Frostbite because we know it. But if we decide to create something where another engine will make sense, this could be an option.
Earlier this year, Zampella took charge of DICE LA. After having a successful year at Respawn (with Apex Legends and Star Wars JEDI: Fallen Order), EA chose him to improve the image of the Los Angeles studio, known only for supporting certain games.
