Next AMD graphics card will not be able to catch the GTX 1080

AMD Radeon Vega 20 should in theory offer the same performance as a GTX 1080! This, at a significantly lower price. However, the leak of a Final Fantasy XV game benchmark shows that AMD Radeon Vega 20 is far behind the ‘old’ GTX 1080.

AMD Vega 20 will be produced with the new 7nm process, so it will be more efficient and capable of higher clock frequencies. But you have to take into account that it is not a new architecture, it’s just a refresh. That’s why the performance boost is likely to be too low …

That said, Final Fantasy XV up is a pretty heavy game, but the GTX 1080 came out two years ago! So it’s safe to say that the AMD Vega 20 graphics card is nothing special if it can not match the performance of NVIDIA’s flagship old board.

In fact, if you can not even compete with 1080, much less will you do with the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX.

The new top-of-the-line board based on this GPU should achieve about 10% more performance compared to Vega 64.

However, we have to take into account that it may be an engineering sample … and that is why you are not achieving 100% of your capabilities.

After all, we do not know when these tests were done.

In addition, we do not know what drivers were used … So, in parallel, it is possible that with new drivers, the performance will go up a lot, and thus, make us forget these horrible results.

In short, we have to wait to see what AMD has to show us with its new Radeon Vega 20.

What do you think about this board? Will it impact the market? Share with us your opinion in the comments below.

  1. I would be very disappointing if the next AMD cannot match the performance of the GTX 1080
