Instagram is now testing a new addition to the user’s feed. Introducing posts from people you do not follow, using an algorithm to measure your possible interest. But, the company knows that this type of change usually has a negative effect on its users, so it will do everything in a very smart way. The new suggestions will not appear until the moment you view all the new posts.
This new feature is still in the testing phase, so it is still not guaranteed that it will eventually reach all users. In essence, the algorithm that is being used analyzes the users you follow and the photos you do like to generate the suggestions.
Fortunately, it’s not Instagram’s plans to put these “to-the-point” suggestions on your feed in the way Facebook does. Instead, once you’ve finished seeing all the new posts in your network, you’ll be presented with suggestions based on your activity
Instagram will begin to present your suggestions at the end of your feed
So, this functionality has everything to go right. Or at least do not bring Instagram headaches. On the other hand, it seems that it will be a feature that will “affect” mostly users who do not follow many people.
I say this because in my case, I never got to see the new message that appears when you finish viewing the latest publications in your network. At the moment I am 350 users, it is true that I do not spend hours on Instagram, but even scrolling just to get to the end of the publications would take a long time.
That said, this is a great idea to help new members of the social network. Since Instagram does not have the option to share publications, it becomes more difficult to “meet” new users that may be of interest to you.
The Instagram team announced this test yesterday, noting that users will randomly appear over the next few days. Shortly after collecting feedback on functionality, they expect to be able to launch definitively over the next few weeks.
