How to turn off the sound of notifications on Apple Watch
Apple Watch

On Apple Watch, it is easy to close unnecessary notifications immediately after they appear on your wrist. Starting with watchOS 5, you can turn off notification sound from some applications. Then notifications will appear without sound immediately in the Apple Watch Notification Center and the iPhone tied. This is a great way to save yourself from the frequent annoying notifications, without changing the settings in the application on the iPhone.

If you do not use the application for a long time, Siri will offer to turn off notifications from it, which is very convenient. You can change the notification settings in different ways, and below we will tell you how.

Method # 1: Quick Setup

1)  First, swipe to the left of the notification or group of notifications when they appear on the clock, then click on the icon in the form of three dots.

2) Now select one of the options:

  • Deliver silently: Notifications will be sent immediately to the Notification Center, and not to the lock screen, and arrive without sound.
  • Disable on Apple Watch:  Notifications from the app will be disabled.

If you select the “Deliver silently” option, notifications from specific applications will not get you, but you will still be able to view them when you have time.

This is how the Apple function describes:

If you want the notifications associated with a program to come without sound or are not accompanied by tactile signals, click “Deliver silently”. Such notifications will be sent directly to the Notification Center both on the Apple Watch and on the iPhone, without being accompanied by a sound or tactile signal.

The function will be applied both on the clock and on the smartphone if it is not a standard application – in them, notifications can be configured separately.

Method # 2: Notification Center

1) Open the Notification Center by swiping down from the very top of the dial.

2)  Swipe left over a notification or group of notifications, and then tap the icon in the form of three dots.

3) Select Deliver silently.

Would you like to be notified on the iPhone, but not on the clock? Then select the Disable option on Apple Watch.

Method # 3: Configure Notifications

Notifications from some applications can be delivered immediately to the Notification Center.

Among them are the following standard Apple applications:

  • Activity
  • Breath
  • The calendar
  • post office
  • Messages
  • Podcasts
  • Reminders
  • Purse
  • Walkie talkie

To set up notifications on the clock, do the following:

1) Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.

2) Select the My Watch tab.

3) Select from the Notifications list.

4) Select the application, click Configure, and then select one of the options:

  • Notification Tolerance: Notifications are displayed in the Notification Center and are accompanied by a signal on the Apple Watch.
  • Notifications off: the program does not send notifications.
  • Sending to the Notification Center: Notifications are sent directly to the Notification Center without being accompanied by a signal to the Apple Watch.

Apple Watch Notifications with Sound

The function “Deliver silent” turns off the sound of notifications both on the smartphone and on the smartwatch.

To receive notifications with sound again, open the Notification Center, swipe to the left by the required notification or group, click the icon in the form of three dots and select Deliver with sound.

Did you delete the notification from the Notification Center? Not a problem, just click on the switch next to it in the Repeat iPhone Notifications section in My Watch → Notifications.

By default, notifications from the iPhone are repeated on the smartwatch. To set up notifications separately, instead of “Repeat iPhone” in the settings of the Apple Watch application, select “Personalize”.
