Upon completing the acquisition of Codemasters, a studio focused on racing games, Electronic Arts already has some plans. One of the goals is to allow the developer to work and grow independently.
According to Matt Bilbey, EA’s deputy executive director, the intention is to really supply the company by giving “all the support they need to continue delivering their beloved productions and continue to explore the growth opportunities they have”. It is worth remembering that EA intends to further boost old Codemasters projects with heavy marketing and product distribution work.
Heavy investment by Codemasters
The deal with Take-Two Interactive was pushed aside by the studio as soon as EA’s $ 1.2 billion proposal arrived. The publisher for its part already has a number of racing games and obviously will have an even greater care in the hands of those who are a reference in the matter.
Codemasters now has the resources of the other studios present at publisher. DICE, Respawn, BioWare, Criterior, EA Sports and many others will help and receive innovations for a future that, according to the deputy director, will be very promising.
At a meeting with investors, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, revealed to be disappointed that he was unable to secure the purchase of Codemasters.
