Benchmark results confirmed that the iPhone XR is as fast as the iPhone XS

All new iPhone models run on the latest Apple A12 Bionic processor, and the Geekbench 4 test results confirmed this. According to tests, the performance of the bright iPhone XR is the same as that of the premium iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. However, the first model works longer and is cheaper.

Results

Judging by the test results, the XR can not only be compared with other expensive Apple smartphones but is 13% faster than last year’s iPhone X in single-core and 10% faster in multi-threaded performance.

 

Geekbench is the most reliable benchmark test platform. Below are the results of XR, XS and older iPhones:

The main reason that the XR battery lasts longer than other models is its screen.

In addition to the energy-saving 7nm processor, the XR has a regular LCD screen, which in some situations consumes less energy than the OLED panel. However, the resolution of its screen is much lower than that of other models – 1792 × 828 pixels, so its GPU has to consume more energy.

 

If only the performance of the smartphone is important to you, then choose the iPhone XR, and not the expensive iPhone XS models.

About benchmark indicators

Benchmark indicators are a good indicator of CPU speed, but results in real life can depend on many factors and differ. Geekbench remains the best platform for these tests since it is publicly available for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android, which means it is easy to make comparisons.

Geekbench platform measures the speed of not only the central but also the graphics processor.

 

However, the Apple neural engine is not involved in the tests. Recall that it was designed to improve the performance of machine learning. Machine learning and artificial intelligence provide many of the functions of iOS – from portrait photography to Face ID. Accordingly, the results of the processors do not describe the whole picture.
