Apple overtook Samsung and became the brand that sold the most smartphones in the world during the last quarter of 2020. Cupertino’s technology is thus returning to a position it has not held since 2016 thanks to the sale of 80 millions of iPhones.
According to Gartner data, sales of iPhone were boosted by the launch of the iPhone family 12, the brand’s first Device with capabilities 5G.
Apple sold about 80 million iPhones
For analyst Anshul Gupta the 5G and the news in the area of image processing have led many users to upgrade this generation , with special emphasis on the fourth quarter of last year.
Apparently, neither the pandemic influenced smartphone purchase decisions, since neither greater care in spending seems to have affected Apple’s Device.
American technology has sold more 10 million iPhones in the final quarter of 2020 than at the end of 2019, seeing its market share grow almost 15%.
Samsung, on the other hand, suffered a decrease in market share of 11. 8% and sold 8 million fewer devices than in the last 3 months of 2019.
Apple is expected to have a record market value at the end of 2021
Apparently Apple will actually have a market value of 3 trillion dollars at the end of this year , with iPhone sales figures 12 at the center of this market capitalization.

If the current trajectory continues, Apple may even be able to sell more than 240 millions of iPhones, with a high probability of reaching the 250 millions of iPhones sold in 2021.
