The Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus was released in December of last year and at that time came with Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Eight months later, Xiaomi began to launch a new update that brings Android 8.1 Oreo to this device.
The update comes exactly two months after Redmi Note 5 Pro has also received its own stable update. In addition to the features of Android 8.1 Oreo, such as picture-in-picture mode and new emojis, the update also comes with Face Unlock for the device and camera enhancements. There is also an image search feature, a smart assistant, and performance enhancements.
The update is being phased in, so if you have not received it yet, you should have some patience. However, a link is already available to download the recovery ROM if you do not want to wait for the OTA. It has more than 1 GB in size.
When you are finished downloading, move the file to the root folder of your device’s internal storage. Then open the update application and tap the three dots in the corner. Then select the update package and select the file you download.
We remind you that the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus offers a 5.99-inch Full HD + screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and a ratio of 18: 9.
As for the cameras, the front has 5 MP with flash and the main one is 12 MP with a density of 1.25 micron. It also has a focal aperture of 2.2 PDAF and LED flash for photos and videos.
