Swedish self-driving truck manufacturer Einride enters the US market

Swedish self-driving electric truck startup Einride has entered the US market, Reuters reported . The company's first customers include Coca-Cola, home appliance manufacturers Electrolux and GE Appliances, Swedish alternative food company Oatly and Japanese tire manufacturer Bridgestone.

According to the source, Einride already operates a fleet of 20 self-driving trucks in Louisville, Kentucky, where home appliance manufacturer GE Appliances is headquartered. It is noted that while the cars will be used on the private territory of the companies, however, Einride is negotiating with US regulators to obtain a license to use cars on public roads.

“The US market has tremendous potential for electrification and automation and is therefore the next step in our expansion with our customers ,” commented Robert Falck, CEO of Einride.

To date, the Swedish startup has raised $ 150 million in investments, including $ 110 million, which it received as part of its placement on the stock exchange in May this year. Services for the provision of transport services using unmanned vehicles have attracted the attention of investors because their deployment within the infrastructure of enterprises is easier and cheaper than equipping their own fleet of cars with such solutions.

Einride added that it has also hired its first professional remote driver to control the movement of unmanned trucks and, if necessary, will be able to take control of transport. He will work in the USA.
