iPhone 14: Apple won't get rid of notch next year

The first rumors about the iPhone 13 take for granted the abolition of notch in next year’s models. Names like Jon Prosser or Ming-Chi Kuo point in that direction, however, the contours of this transition may be somewhat different.

It is from the Chinese social network Weibo and its user @PandaIsBald that the information comes to us that notch will not disappear next year. This source claims that it can live with the much desired punch hole.

Punch hole may be reserved for the iPhone 13 Pro

Before the above, the most credible thesis is that there is a design differentiation between the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 15 Pro. In other words, entry models might retain the notch, while Pro would make the leap to a more contemporary look.

This is the most logical explanation for what this Chinese font has advanced recently. By suggesting the two design approaches for the iPhone 13, it makes perfect sense for this to be practiced as an incentive to buy more models. Expensive.

After all, the transition to an on-screen perforation means the reinvention of Face ID. It is believed that this will involve its inclusion on the screen, which will certainly increase the equipment’s production costs. Pro and iPhone Pro Max Entry models would stick with the traditional notch and Face ID to lower the associated costs.

It’s worth remembering that both Jon Prosser and Ming-Chi Kuo stated that Apple would embrace

punch hole next year, but without specifying on what terms. Therefore, both rumors can coexist.

Touch ID remains out of plans for the iPhone 13

The same @PandaIsBald took the opportunity to reinforce the idea that the Touch ID on the screen should not appear on the iPhone 14. Also here a corroboration of rumors from other sources.

Apparently, Apple still does not identify with the fingerprint sensor on the screen. Indeed, this technology will remain absent from its high end for at least another year.
