On paper, the newly announced Asus ROG Phone is the most powerful Android smartphone to date. In practice, it is the only one to have an overclocked version of Qualcomm’s best chipset: the octa-core Snapdragon 845. Thus, this overclocked variant is capable of reaching a peak frequency of 2.96 GHz (the standard SD845 runs on about 2.8 GHz – about 6% less).
Now, behold, the top-of-the-range Asus has been tested on the Geekbench and obtained excellent results. According to the well-known benchmarking platform, the Asus ROG Phone is the best Android smartphone in terms of performance, not just on paper.
This device reached 2547 points in the single-core tests and 9534 points in the multi-core tests, surpassing all other Android devices, including the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and OnePlus 6. The overclocked Snapdragon 845 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal UFS storage. The screen has a size of 6 inches and shows images in Full HD + resolution. Also worth noting is a refresh rate of 90 Hz, which will be very useful for players, even if it does not reach 120 Hz, as in the case of the Razer Phone.
The ASUS ROG Phone is the only device to come equipped with 3 USB Type C ports so you can charge your smartphone while using accessories such as headphones or external gamepads. Given that we are talking about accessories, this company has also released four gadgets for ASUS ROG smartphones that can enhance the gaming experience. They include the AeroActive Cooler, a cooling system that can be controlled through a dedicated application, a Gamepad with physical buttons and the TwinView system that adds a 6-inch secondary monitor.
