The “magic” of Google’s mobile operating system is its “open source” spirit. Something that allows any interested programmer to develop and compile their own ROMs. In this case, the custom ROM’s or ROM’s customized as is the case of CarbonROM, already based on Android Oreo and available for several OnePlus, Xiaomi, among others.
In fact, this is one of the unofficial ROM’s (not compiled by OEMs or manufacturers), with greater popularity. Now, thanks to the XDA Developers portal we have a complete list of all the smartphones that can install it and take advantage of its features. From several OnePlus to OnePlus 5 and two Xiaomi, among many Sony already can enjoy it.
It is a case to say that the team responsible for the development of CarbonROM have been very busy. It should also be noted that to install this CarbonROM based on Android Oreo programmers recommend a clean installation. This means a factory formatting/resetting of your terminal. Having said that, it is advisable to save all your data before installing any ROM on your smartphone or tablet. This way you ensure that your data is not lost.
Programmers report that, for example, installing CarbonROM based on Android Nougat on some terminals will not require a “clean install”. That is, without erasing all the data on the device. Still, they advise them to do a reset to avoid any incompatibility or at least mitigate the risk of that happening.
